The letter Y comes with a yak. Like the quail, this is a sensible solution to a difficult letter. It arrives in pumpkin and clay brown with beige and deep gold, sharing its earthy range with the kangaroo, and it suits shaggy browns, blacks or creams equally well.
This is mainly bought as part of a complete alphabet, and it works well in a wall hanging, a growth chart or a set of name blocks where every letter needs to be present.
At around 62mm by 79mm it is one of the more compact designs with room to spare in a 4 inch hoop. Nine colour stops across roughly 7,400 stitches, but only six distinct shades, since three of them repeat.
