Free Standing Lace Alphabet Embroidery Designs

Free standing lace letters have no fabric behind them at all. The design stitches onto water soluble stabiliser, and because every stitch locks into the ones around it, the letter holds together once the backing is rinsed away. They hang as decorations, sit on place settings, or get stitched down onto a finished piece as a raised applied letter.

Use two layers of firm water soluble stabiliser hooped tightly, and thread the bobbin with the same colour as the top, because both sides will be seen. Rinse in warm water, pin out flat while damp, and let the letter dry completely before moving it.
