Plain Machine Embroidery Fonts

Plain fonts are the workhorses of any embroidery collection. When you need a name across a towel, a monogram on a shirt pocket or wording on a bag, a plain font does the job without the letter competing with the message.

They also solve the problem themed alphabets create. A themed set is wonderful for a single initial but exhausting across a full name. Pairing one themed feature letter with a plain font for the rest of the word is the combination that works most often.

Sizing and Small Lettering

Every set lists the hoop size it was digitised for. Small lettering is where most problems happen. Satin stitch columns below about two millimetres wide will not hold their shape, so if you scale a font down and the letters look ragged, the answer is a font digitised for that size rather than a resized larger one.
