The letter O comes with an owl. It is the most detailed design in the alphabet and the one with the highest stitch count, supplied in reddish brown and clay brown with white and deep gold. The layered browns are what give the feathers their depth, so if you recolour it, keep to shades that step apart from each other.
Owls carry the widest age range of anything in this set. They suit a nursery, a classroom themed gift for a teacher, an autumn cushion or a tote, and they do not date the way some character motifs do.
At around 77mm by 83mm it fits a 4 inch hoop, but at roughly 12,100 stitches across twelve colour stops it takes noticeably longer than the rest of the alphabet. Two of the shades appear three times each. Wind a spare bobbin before you start.
