The letter C comes with a chicken in the brightest setup of the whole alphabet, running through carmine, deep gold, teal and electric blue. It has more of a folk art feel than the other animals in the set, and it is the one design where going brighter still tends to improve it rather than spoil it.
This is a natural fit for kitchen linen, aprons, tea towels and market bags, and it works just as well outside a nursery context as inside one. If you keep chickens, it also makes a nice addition to an egg collecting basket or a garden apron, and it is worth matching the thread to your own birds.
At around 89mm by 80mm it fills a 4 inch hoop. Eleven colour stops across roughly 9,700 stitches, so it is the most thread heavy of the smaller designs. Wind an extra bobbin before you start, and note that a few shades repeat through the sequence.
