A is for Alphabet

The complete A is for Animal alphabet, all 26 letters with a matching animal for every one. Alligator through to zebra, including proper answers to the letters that usually defeat an alphabet set: a quail for Q, an x-ray fish for X and a yak for Y.

The whole alphabet is worked in one consistent style with a shared range of colours running through it, so the letters sit together properly whether you stitch one name or the full set. The colours are how the designs come rather than how they have to be, and the alphabet takes a recolour well if you are matching a nursery, a school colour or simply the threads already on your shelf.

There are natural groups inside it too. The jellyfish, narwhal, seal and x-ray fish make an ocean set. The elephant, giraffe, lion, rhinoceros and zebra make a safari set. The bear, deer, fox and owl make a woodland set.

Twenty four of the 26 designs fit a 4 inch hoop. Two of them, M Mouse at 107mm wide and W Weasle at 109mm wide, need a 5x7 or larger. Stitch counts run from around 4,900 for the iguana up to around 12,100 for the owl, with most sitting between 7,000 and 10,000. Colour stops range from six to twelve.
