Fringe Santa

A Santa alphabet using the fringe technique to create a raised beard on every letter.
Fringe Santa alphabet embroidery designs
Santa's beard is stitched as loops that you cut and fluff, so it is soft and raised just like the real thing. A real show stopper on a Christmas stocking.
How fringe embroidery works
- The machine stitches loops of thread in the fringe areas, with a holding line along one edge
- After stitching, carefully cut the bobbin threads on the back of the fringe areas
- Pull the loops through to the front and fluff them up with your fingers or a soft brush
- Trim to the length you like for a mane, beard, skirt or petals that stand up off the fabric
Tips for stitching alphabet letters
- Line up your letters in your machine software or with a printed template before you hoop
- Stitch a test letter on scrap fabric with the same stabiliser first
- On towels and textured fabrics, add a water soluble topper so the stitches sit on top
