Merry Y

Merry Y is a machine embroidery design of the capital letter Y, filled with red stitching and decorated with small white snowflakes. A thin white outline runs around the edge of the letter and gives it a neat, festive look. It is shown in red and white as a suggestion only. Any shades of the same colour families work just as well, such as burgundy or deep pink with cream or pale grey.

This winter letter suits Christmas projects like tea towels, tote bags, cushion covers, stockings, table runners and baby clothes. It also works as a monogram initial on a gift bag, or as a quilt block in a winter or alphabet quilt. It sits well on cotton, linen, felt or fleece, where the snowflakes stay clear against the filled background.

The design measures 48mm wide by 74mm high (1.9 x 2.9 inches), so it fits easily in a hoop. It has 3,377 stitches and only 1 colour change, so it stitches up quickly. Use tearaway stabiliser on stable woven fabrics and cutaway stabiliser on knits.
