Merry Q

Merry Q is a large, curly script letter Q filled with blue stitching and scattered with white snowflakes of different sizes. The blue background has a soft banded texture and the letter has a fine light outline, so it gives a cosy winter look. The royal blue and white shown here are only a suggestion. Any shades of blue work, or you can pick another colour family altogether.

This initial is a good fit for Christmas and winter projects. Try it on tea towels, tote bags, cushion covers, stockings, baby bibs and clothes, or as a monogram on a gift. It also makes a pretty quilt block for a winter quilt. The fill is fairly dense, so it sits best on stable fabrics such as cotton, linen, canvas or denim.

The design measures 62 mm wide by 99 mm high (2.4 x 3.9 inches), so it fits easily in a 5x7 inch hoop. It has 7,923 stitches and only 1 colour change, so it stitches fairly quickly. Use tearaway stabiliser on stable woven fabric and cutaway stabiliser on knits.
