Merry P

Merry P is a capital letter P in a soft, slightly brushed hand-lettered style. The letter is filled with red stitching and scattered with small white snowflakes, and a thin white outline runs around the edge. It makes a festive alphabet letter for names, initials and Christmas words. It is shown here in red and white, but that is only a suggestion. Any shades of the same families work, such as a deeper red or a cream or pale grey for the snowflakes.

Stitch it on tea towels, tote bags, cushion covers, Christmas stockings, gift bags and baby clothes. It also works well as a quilt block letter in a holiday sampler. Cotton, linen, canvas and fleece all hold the stitching nicely, and the snowflakes show up best on a plain, smooth fabric.

The design measures 47 mm wide x 75 mm high (1.9 x 3.0 inches), so it fits any hoop with a stitching area of at least that size. It has 4,358 stitches and only 1 colour change, so it stitches quickly. Use tearaway stabiliser on stable woven fabrics and cutaway on knits.
