Fringed
Fringed machine embroidery designs where loops of thread are cut and brushed up to make a raised, textured finish.
Fringe embroidery designs with real texture
Fringe embroidery adds something you can actually touch. Parts of the design are stitched as loops, then cut and fluffed up so they stand off the fabric. It is perfect for hula skirts, lion manes, Santa beards, unicorn manes and flower centres.
It looks impressive but it is easy to do, and kids love running their fingers over the finished piece.

How fringe embroidery works
- The machine stitches loops of thread in the fringe areas, with a holding line along one edge
- After stitching, carefully cut the bobbin threads on the back of the fringe areas
- Pull the loops through to the front and fluff them up with your fingers or a soft brush
- Trim to the length you like for a mane, beard, skirt or petals that stand up off the fabric
