Traffic sign designs are simple bold shapes in flat colour, which makes them fast to stitch and easy to place. They are used for children's play mats and clothing, road themed quilts and nursery items, and novelty gifts.
Because the shapes are geometric, any distortion shows immediately. A circle that has gone slightly oval or a straight edge that has bowed is obvious in a way it would not be on an organic shape, so hoop firmly and use an appropriate stabiliser for the fabric weight.
