Baby and Children's Machine Embroidery Designs
Designs for babies and children need a different approach to the rest of embroidery. Baby skin is sensitive and baby garments are almost always knit, so a lighter design on a soft backing matters far more than fine detail. Most of the designs in this category are digitised with lower stitch counts and simpler shapes for exactly that reason.
The birthday alphabets are set up so you can stitch a name and an age on the same item, and the baby blocks work well spaced across a quilt or repeated down a growth chart.
Stabiliser and Finishing
Use a soft cutaway stabiliser on knits and cover the back of the design with a fusible tricot or a piece of soft fabric so nothing scratches. Trim jump threads on the back rather than leaving them, and wash the finished item before it goes anywhere near a baby.
