Applique Machine Embroidery Designs
Applique replaces large filled areas with fabric, which cuts stitch count dramatically and gives a softer finished result. It is the better choice for anything large, anything worn against the skin, and anything that needs to stay flexible after washing.
Every applique design here follows the standard sequence. A placement line stitches first to show exactly where the fabric goes, a tackdown stitch holds it in place so you can trim close to the line, and a satin or decorative edge finishes it. Stop the machine after the tackdown and trim carefully, because the neatness of that trim is what determines how the finished edge looks.
Fabric and Stabiliser
Cotton and quilting fabrics are the easiest to work with. Anything that frays badly benefits from a fusible backing applied before you start, which also stops the fabric shifting under the tackdown. Use a cutaway stabiliser on knits and a tearaway on stable wovens.
