Animal and Bird Machine Embroidery Designs

Animals are the most requested subject in machine embroidery and this category covers the range, from realistic birds and marine life through to cartoon style animals aimed at children's clothing and nursery items. Dachshunds, elephants, owls, llamas, penguins, frogs, sharks and turtles all have their own sets, alongside broader assorted collections.

Realistic animal designs carry higher stitch counts and more colour changes because the shading is built from layered fills. They suit stable woven fabrics with a cutaway stabiliser. The simpler cartoon animals stitch fast and sit better on knits and baby clothing, where a lighter design and a soft backing matter more than fine detail.

Choosing for the Project

For towels and anything with a nap, look for designs with a defined outline that will hold the pile down. For quilts and bags where the back will not be seen against skin, the more detailed shaded animals are worth the extra stitch time.
